Over the years Bridgend Male Choir has had the privilege of sharing the concert platform with both local and international choirs, musicians, singers and presenters including a few world famous artists.

(2015) Trelawnyd Male Voice Choir
The choir is one of the largest male voice choirs in North Wales and is noted for its varied repertoire ranging from Vivaldi to Andrew Lloyd Webber. The choir has appeared with many notable soloists such as Bryn Terfel, Dennis O'Neill, Rhys Meirion, Gwyn Hughes Jones and performed alongside famous bands including the Grimethorpe Colliery, Black Dyke and Fodens. The choir has had great success in competition, gaining first prize at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales on seven occasions - in 1967, 1973, 1983, 1985, 1992, 1999 and 2007. Crossing the Irish Sea the choir won first prize at the Eire International Festival in Cork. In 1981 they came second out of 50 male voice choirs in the prestigious BBC Radio Wales Choir of the year competition, and in December, 2005 were once again runners-up in the BBC Wales Male. They have performed in many parts of Europe and North America providing a wide variety of music styles from traditional folk songs to modern day classics - many arranged for them by their Conductor.

Laura Smith
Laura enjoyed a thrilling 6.5 year working relationship as accompanist to Bridgend Male Choir from October 2006 until May 2012 and is held in high esteem by the Music Team and Choir alike. Laura studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she graduated with a BMus (Hons) degree in July 2007, having already gained ABRSM Diplomas in both piano teaching and piano music performance. During her degree studies, Laura began her professional accompaniment career with Pontypridd Choral Society. In 2006 her accompaniment career took off as she joined the music staff at Bridgend Male Choir. Her time as accompanist to the Bridgend Male Choir gave her much exposure to concert life and has provided many opportunities to accompany solo performers. In July 2010 Laura gained her Masters Degree in Music Therapy from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and December 2011 saw Laura gain her LRSM Diploma in Piano Music Performance.

(2011) Rick O’Shea
Since the Autumn of 2003 Rick has been part of the presentation team of “Scrum V”, during which time his features on the grassroots of rugby have become an established and popular section of the programme. Alongside Jason Mohammed Rick assisted in the presentation of Scrum V’s Rugby World Cup & Six Nations Specials. This format proved to be incredibly popular gaining a bigger than usual audience share and up to 250,000 viewers. Rick is a feature writer, reporter and occasional presenter for Scrum V’s sister programme

(2004) Megan Llewellyn Dorke
Megan studied at the RWCMD and was subsequently awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music where she won the Gilbert Betjemann Opera Prize, graduating with Distinction. Extensive concert work in England and along with opera engagements as well as appearances with D'Oyly Carte at the Savoy and in the USA. Since joining Welsh National Opera she has covered various title roles and toured as a soloist in the Artists of Welsh National Opera Tour.

(2010) Llio Evans
Anglesy born Welsh soprano, Llio Evans, gained a first class honours degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama before going on to receive an MA with distinction from the Wales International Academy of Voice. A winner of numerous awards including Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize, Dame Anne Evans Award, and the Russell Sheppard Intercollegiate Award, Llio is a British Youth Opera and Welsh National Youth Opera alumna and a former Alvarez Young Artist at Garsington Opera where she recently received the Leonard Ingrams Award. With her sparkling vocal tone and charming stage presence, Llio particularly revels in coquettish and comic roles.

(2010) Port Talbot Cymric Choir
The Cymric as it is affectionately known is one of the oldest choirs in Wales having been established in 1911 by Mr John Bowen Davies. A Family choir who take their singing seriously, tour abroad extensively, and share many moments of hilarity. The choir continues to uphold its tradition of raising several thousand pounds annually for charitable organisations locally as well as in England and abroad.

(2010) Richard Lennox
is a fast emerging classical crossover artist. A virtuoso Musician who plays everything from Bach to the Beatles, Musical Theatre to Rock and Roll and just about everything else in between, as Master Of The Keys he holds a phenomenal stage presence with the technical ability to truly entertain. Both recording artist and live performer, unique in his talent, he encompasses playing piano, organ, keyboards, double bass, composing and arranging; all with an infectious enthusiasm. Primarily a self taught musician Richard has worked in most genres of the music industry; from accompanying choirs, singers, instrumentalists to writing and arranging. Working extensively in Theatre, Cabaret and major concert venues across the UK and Europe – including the world famous Royal Albert Hall – he is no stranger to guest spots in the UKs Cathedrals, Delighting venues and audiences alike with the Lennox spin to piano and organ performance

(2010) Porthcawl Male Voice Choir
Alan Pillinger founded the Choir in January 1980. The first practice was held in St. John’s Church Hall in Newton, Porthcawl, with 14 members. The Choir continued to grow steadily when in 1982 the Choir had the ultimate honour when they were invited to sing for the Pope, at his arrival and departure from Cardiff Airport. In 1984 they won their first Eisteddfod, in the Rhymney Valley, and in the same year winning the Tumble Eisteddfod in the little, very Welsh, village just outside Llanelli. The Choir has travelled throughout Europe, entertaining audiences in Barcelona, France and Holland and Spain. The choir takes great pride in bringing uniquely talented artistes to Porthcawl whilst also upholding the Welsh Tradition of choral singing.

2012) Elinor Rolfe Johnson
Lyric-coloratura soprano winner of the 2012 Russell Sheppard Scholarship at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Elinor graduated from Cambridge University with a Masters degree in Music and she completed her two years on the Opera school at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Summer of 2013. As an RCS scholarship holder Elinor was supported by the Russell Sheppard Trust Vocal Scholarship and the Richard Stapely trust. She has performed at venues including the Theatre Royal Glasgow, L'Archeveche and Grand Theatre Aix-en-Provence, St John's Smith Square, Leeds Town Hall, Snape Maltings and St. George’s Hanover Square.

(2012) Côr Meibion Caldicot
was formed in 1963 by men who moved to the Monmouthshire area from all over Wales to man the furnaces and mills of the new steelworks at Llanwern. The Choir quickly established itself and today can look back with pride on its achievements and successes in the competition arena, which include first prize at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and five places at Miners’ Eisteddfod. The Choir is also justly proud of the prominence that it has attained on the concert stage and has toured abroad many times, including visits to the United States of America, Canada, Holland, Austria and Germany. It has also travelled extensively throughout Great Britain giving concerts, mostly for charitable causes, and it is pleased and proud of the many thousands of pounds it has helped to raise.
