ACTIVITIES DURING DECEMBER 2011

Wednesday 23 November 2011

The Festive Season is traditionally a busy time for Choirs and Bridgend Male Choir is no exception - David Burt writes........

Friday, 2nd December – Come along to St Mary's Catholic Church, Bridgend to see and hear the Choir at its Annual Friendship Concert with the Church. The Concert will also feature the School Choir from St Mary's, together with local soprano, Anne Wilkins. All have exciting programmes. The Concert starts at 7.00 pm and payment can be made at the door.

Saturday, 3rd December – Bridgend Male Choir is one of forty four choirs and an estimated 2,000 choristers forming a Massed Choir at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on the occasion of the Wales vs. Australia repeat of the third place play-off at the recent Rugby World Cup. The event is to celebrate 130 years of Welsh Rugby. If you cannot be at the Stadium, try your television/ radio from 1.55 pm.

Saturday, 10th December – Another chance to visit a lovely Church at Christmas, this time St Mary's Nolton Church for the Christmas Tree Festival. The wonderful exhibition of decorated trees can be viewed throughout the week and at the Concert, where they provide an uplifting back-drop to the Choir's seasonal performance. Tickets can be purchased at the Church throughout the week or payment can be made at the door prior to the 7.00 pm start.

Friday, 16th December – Not a formal event, but you may see some familiar chorister's faces as the Singing Santas visit a number of hotels/ restaurants/ hostelries during the evening. The Santas will be singing carols supporting the Rotary Club of Bridgend's annual initiative to raise funds for good causes. If you see them, please give generously.

Saturday, 17th December – Subject to fine weather, Bridgend Male Choir will provide seasonal entertainment for shoppers from 1.30 pm for approx.45 mins. The performance is part of Bridgend County Borough Council's Season of Entertainment. Why not go along to the area in front of the Post Office and be entertained.

The Bridgend Male Choir will conclude its singing for 2011 at its chorister get-together following its final practice of the year and helping wedding celebrations on the 28th at both Bridgend and Cardiff.

The Choristers and Music Team wish to acknowledge their tremendous supporters and extend to them and everyone else their best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
