CHOIR ON THE MOVE

Thursday 13 March 2014

Bridgend Male Choir is changing its rehearsal venue and commencing on Thursday, 13th March will hold its once weekly Practice Session at Oldcastle School, South Street, Bridgend CF31 3DE.

It is   moving primarily because it will have sole tenure on Thursday evenings and two rehearsal halls, allowing for sectional focus. Acoustic pianos are also available in both and there is more than adequate parking at the premises. It is also available during the school holidays allowing for continuity throughout the year.

Having spent more than 40 years at its popular original rehearsal venue at the South Wales Police Social Club, in the 2000's the venue became unavailable and the Choir moved to Hermon Chapel in the town. The offer to be able to rehearse at the larger former OCLP Club, Bryntirion became an opportunity too good to turn down and the Choir spent a number of happy years there also before the Club closed last year. Having held its annual concerts at St Mary's Catholic Church, Bridgend, the choristers approach to use its facilities was wholly welcomed and during the short time it has rehearsed there the welcome has been warm and wholesome. The relationship with the Church will certainly continue with Concerts planned in October and December this year.

The challenge now is to replicate the great personal working relationship with Fathers' Isaac, Tim and very recently Fr. Gareth Jones and their teams with the School team led by Head teacher & Deputy, Jeremy Thompson and Sue Prosser. Judging by meetings so far, the great harmony will continue (no pun intended). New choristers will continue to be welcomed and can in the first instance contact Choir Secretary, Gareth Reese T. 07773 170373 or website www.bridgendmalechoir.co.uk
